An article by ex Nazim Bakote Nazir Abbasi on a very important issue. He has pointed out the dying conditions of the forests in Bakote, Bhaga, Kaho Sharqi, Bagnotar, Thandyani and beeran Galli.
Dear Nazir Sahib. Very true what you have written, but I just want to ask what was your contribution and role when you ware in power, please write on and clarify your position when you have time. Because I do believe that people haven’t done much when they can and criticize when they don’t have power to improve the thing, was it not good/ effective if you have taken some serious measure in 2005? In spite of all these figure and fact it is not too late I appreciate at least you start to realize the importance of natural asset and analyze our deficiencies which are the area of future improvement.
This is good opportunity for all of us to do something for our Forest. I pray that all including politician start thinking positively and do work on and take some measure to save the forest. I do know and one must keep in mind that the trees are very vital and we must start growing more trees in our surroundings for the sake of our next generation to give them a gorgeous and healthy environment. We should keep in mind that the deforestation will lead to the extinction of many animals as well as healthy life.
I do agree with Nazir Sahib if authorities allowed the illegal timber to be exported to other areas without any restriction or heavy fine; it means that we are encouraging the timber mafia to cut down ever more trees. What is our moral obligation that we should put pressure on authorities to find out these malefactors; although the timber mafias have/ had political influence that is fact. I made plea to politician please do not support such culprit.
We need to be thinking here that is if we are really interested in our upcoming generation? The answer is simple; if we really care about the Oxygen in the air then we need to cut down less trees and re-plant those we have already taken out and then plant another dozen, as we know the roots of the trees hold the soil firmly and prevent soil attrition. This leads to the increase in the ground water level and the continuity of water cycle gets balanced resulting in good rains. Ultimately trees prevent the drought and provide greenery to the environment. Apart from taking care of the soil and water, the trees provide shelter to many animals and birds in the forests which ultimately help in the environmental balance of the nature. Having more number of trees around will reduce the unsafe effects of global warming.
Should we support for this cause, if the answer is yes so it means that we are interested in our lives and future generation and want healthy lives.
If we continued to allow the timber mafia to cut down the forests, as is happening, floods & drought would be inevitable. It would not be act of God. It would be man-made catastrophe.
